| The mission of Protecting His Gifts is to advance the safety and protection of women and children through education. Strategies and skills in self protection, awareness, intuition, as well as crime and violence prevention are taught through workshops, presentations, and materials that emphasize success-based practices. Protecting His Gifts empowers women and children by providing them with ways to recognize and then avoid or escape potentially dangerous situations. We see women and children as some of God's greatest gifts, and feel a duty to protect them by educating them in ways to protect themselves. Protecting His Gifts was formed as a Faith based non-profit organization that is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization under Federal Tax Identification Number 20-8708575. Protecting His Gifts maintains high professional and ethical standards. With that, the organization is committed to making its programs accessible to people of all religious, economic, racial/ethnic, and social groups. The organization also provides outreach programs on self protection to groups that are at high risk for victimization from violence and also for individuals with special needs. |
| Protecting His Gifts was the vision of Officer Richard Neil, a retired police officer from Huber Heights, Ohio. Richard served 15 years as a police officer with five years as a school resource officer assigned to one of the largest high school communities in the state. His involvement in youth crime prevention programs brought state and national awards and recognition to him and the programs. After he was forced to retire from an injury he suffered on duty he started the organization along with the remaining board of directors. He saw a need to prevent crime against women and children instead of just taking the reactionary stance so common of law enforcement agencies. Through years of training and research he created the "Fight Like a Girl ~Women's Safety & Self-Defense Clinic" still taught at Wayne High School to every female student. For five days straight he would take the young women from class and show them proven police and self-defense techniques specific to a woman's protection in order to prepare them in case of a sexual assault. The program became so popular that he began to teach courses for adult women in the community and teachers around the school district. Officer Neil with two of his own children at home, and another 2,400 at his high school, had a real desire to keep them all safe. He created the child safety programs in the school district using proven practices, research, and techniques from the top crime prevention organizations and specialists throughout the nation. Kids learn skills and strategies to keep them safe, along with actual physical techniques to avoid or escape a potential abductor. Officer Neil was also assigned to undercover narcotics investigations, as a crime scene investigator, and as a detective during his law enforcement career. He is a very effective and entertaining public speaker in the areas of drug prevention and safety. For more information on Officer Neil please CLICK HERE. |
